Jap Show Finale - Santa Pod

George his a new personal best drag time. Apparently the Santa pod prepare the track well for Jap Show, this is the rumor that was flying around around the pits and judging by the amount of broken drive shafts kicking about its true. George's R32 has only ever run on a drag strip twice, once at York raceway and then at TOTB (see event reports below)  So the car has had very little time on the drag strip, but George was there to get the very best time possible from his GTR. George's first run saw 12.23 second 1/4 but with a very big bog, he wasn't expecting the surface to be so grippy. His second run of the day saw yet again another 12.20 1/4, this time he'd run in RWD all the way.

The Nissan Skyline of George's has a switchable 4wd system and he'd forgotten to switch back into 4wd!! He was still impressed with his time of 12.2 in RWD though. His third and last qualifying run had to be perfect, he needed to put in a good time in order to qualify through to the next round and put in a good run he did with a 10.56 @ 131 mph giving him a new personal best.

George then went on to race Shane Smith a fellow Time Attack competitor in the eliminations. (Shane also sponsored the DCY Drift car with tyres throughout the 2007  season, big thanks to Shane from Electrical Switchgear Services)He again improved on his time running a 10.51 @ 131mph with an impressive 60ft of 1.50. George did notice his 4th gear was starting to get very notch and it felt a little stiff when going into 4th.

This give George yet again another personal best and backed up his prediction earlier in the week when asked what times he'd run. He next lined up in the quarter finals against the Toyota Supra of Envy Performance driven by Kevin Huntley. The Supra had run  a best time 10.13 before and was a quicker car than Georges Track R32.  With everything to do George lined up and got another great 60ft time of  1.51 seconds which is a pretty awesome 60ft for a none drag car. The Envy Supra struggled of the lights, Kevin wasn't really ready when the lights had changed.

George powered off up the straight but had a spot of trouble when changing into 4th, but fortunately he noticed Kevin was way back and was able to tenderly feel his way into 4th and get back on the power to carry him over the line with a 10.88 @ 119mph.

George then found himself in the semi finals and up against the Endless R32 of Jonny McKeon. Jonny's R32 had been running 10.2, 1/4's all day so George had his hands full. Only one other car was left and that's the Jun Lemon R33 of Mick Begly which also had been running 10.2's all day. Mick had a by and was automatically put through to the finals.

George and Jonny lined up, R32 against R32. This was probably the best race of the day, George got an outstanding 60ft of 1.42 matched pretty closely with a 1.49 by Jonny. George had the faster reaction of .32 of a second over the .44 of Jonny's. George found himself in front by a bonnet length all the way down the strip until he tried for 4th gear. As soon as he pulled back to try and get 4th and couldn't Jonny just sailed past to take the win with a 10.34. George never got his 32 into 4th and crossed the line with a 10.60. George finished in 3rd place!

George has got big plans for his R32 for next year which might see the car unable to run on drag strips, which is a shame as he really enjoyed it.
